Angel Whispers – Sympathetic Overdrive

If you’re anything like me, it’s easy to become so conditioned to stress you can lose self-awareness as to the damage being done. High levels of stress can lead to entering the ‘fight or flight’ response. Certain bodily functions are turned on when you enter these stressful states. The sympathetic nervous system promotes the stress response, which links human energy to physiological states. Symptoms of sympathetic overdrive include feeling edgy, being easily startled, muscle tension, weight gain or trouble losing weight, anxiety, dizziness, fatigue, and sleep issues.

Stress signals moving through the central nervous system help get us through the short term, but if experienced for long periods of time, the results can be disastrous. I am seeing this more and more in my energy assessments as energy compression sites in the head area. Brain fog, headaches, memory problems, and hormonal imbalances trace back to the chakras and the endocrine system taking on the stress.

The parasympathetic system promotes relaxation and restoration processes in the areas of digestion, detoxification, and preparing the system to shut down for restful sleep. Think of para in the sense of how a parachute slows things down. Parasympathetic processes act to deregulate the system from the chronic stress. It’s my responsibility to help that system by taking measures that calm things down! (tee hee) I calm down when asking for a whisper, followed by the stillness needed to be a good listener. Let’s join in the calming effect of receiving whispers from spirit on sympathetic overdrive:

It’s challenging to slow things down in a culture that works to speed things up. When moving too fast, one can lose self-awareness and the sensory perception of every nuance found in each moment. When the central nervous system cannot keep up with the pace of life, sympathetic overdrive follows the path of the frenetic energy.

Energy flows along the channels of electrical impulses. When the process speeds up, grounding and stability become an obstacle impacting on the overall system. A step-by-step process applied at a moderate pace conserves the vital resources of human energy. It takes mindfulness with everyday tasks, good nutrition, nurturing heart connections, breathing for relaxation, and treating yourself to body-pampering activities.

Stress reduction is a personal responsibility and a conscious choice for living a healthy life. Your best lifestyle habits are those chosen with mindful and deliberate action. The Earth is the realm for testing and the forum for actions. Learn from the challenges you face and listen to your body. This is a time for independence, inspiration, and initiations with a focus on balance.

Adaptation requires discernment around limiting beliefs. Inflexibility announces the mind is closed. Change is inevitable, and those who adapt to conscious living will become the new-thought leaders of the future. Awareness of energy compression and sympathetic overdrive is the direct message communicating the need to slow things down.

Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell

“During the time of stress, the “fight-or-flight” response is on and the self-repair mechanism is disabled. It is then when we say that the immunity of the body goes down and the body is exposed to the risk for disease. Meditation activates relaxation, when the sympathetic nervous system is turned off and the parasympathetic nervous system is turned on, and natural healing starts.” Annie Wilson
