This word, adventure, can be defined in many ways. The traditional definition is an unusual, exciting, and typically hazardous experience or activity. What really defines adventure to me is uncertainty in motion. The most significant moments in my life are never predictable or safely contained. We push the limits by the level of unknown that stimulates the senses. My imagination can take uncertainty, fear, and a dash of missing information to create a mental masterpiece of what could possibly go wrong! (tee hee)
It’s easy to build expectations with any activity. When we are talking about the future, expectations are more like assumptions, which can greatly limit the experience while often leading to disappointment. When I’m working within the confines of what I can control, while remaining open to the possibilities, that’s when the magic happens. It’s hard to plan being out of control, so I have to break free of the need to predict the outcome.
Fear can add the vital energy of anticipation to any experience. Overcoming the paralyzing effect of fear takes practice. I seek to find acceptance of the unknown to practice better engagement in the process. Decreased fear means less focus on doubt. Acceptance of uncertainty can loosen the grip to make adventure fun, engaging, and easy. Let’s loosen the grip for a whisper on adventure:
Each life experience will bring its own unique vibration to the core essence of your being. The heart and soul are constantly being pulled toward the next adventure. Like chapters in a book, each adventure writes the story of your own personal growth and development. The search for love is always an adventure that brings deep meaning to life.
An adventure leaves residual energy that says that something significant occurred. Whether incredibly difficult or amazingly joyful, the feeling will remain. Conscious engagement forms the human systems of characteristics, personality, and destiny. A desire to repeat the vibration of an experience will suspend the routine of patterned behavior.
Some souls are more focused on the freedom that comes with adventure. Always seeking the experience, they may look beyond personal responsibility in an attempt to fulfill their vision. Adventure will bring freedom, but only through a focused discipline. Seek what is near, for the adventure is never far from reach. You don’t have to look farther than that which brings focus, awareness, and engagement.
A sense of adventure motivates and inspires a person to move beyond their comfort zone. Uncertainty cannot be faced without determination. The unknown will evoke a type of engagement beyond everyday living. Adventure awakens the senses. Release from the notion of control is experienced as vulnerability or the feeling of fear. It’s natural to mistake fear for excitement. But remember – where fear meets doubt, you will find higher levels of performance and achievement. The most natural state of being is a soul awakened by adventure.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
