With my recent traumatic experiences, I stepped back to make some observations. What I realized was my difficulty in making decisions. Those involving a higher level of commitment were the most challenging. I also noticed making trauma-based decisions that were out of touch with my core values. Making changes can add to the pain of grief, which leads to avoidance. But not deciding is a decision in itself (tee hee). I was losing my autonomy.
We have an innate psychological need for relatedness, autonomy, and competence. These are essential for greater self-esteem and overall wellness. Personal independence is important when striving for higher levels of motivation and performance. Reaching our goals and aspirations leads to greater happiness. When external factors control the outcome, problems arise around poor self-image.
Autonomy means freedom to be yourself. With autonomy, you can make informed decisions without external influences. It’s more a state of being that centers around self-governance. To feel my autonomy, I must believe my decisions are in alignment with my core values. Trauma is numbing to the senses, so it’s easy to feel lost and without direction. That feeling of being cut off from myself also means I’m disconnected from spirit. My antidote is to engage in a whisper with intention and motivation to learn all about autonomy:
Autonomy can be challenging under current energy patterns that influence human conditions. It takes energetic stability to remain centered, calm, and clear when making decisions. Humans experience modern life in a way that leads to making many decisions a day. Even small commitments influence a bigger picture when it comes to destiny.
It’s challenging to slow down the process of life enough to temper external influences. This demonstrates the importance of boundaries related to energetic stability. Weakening of the electromagnetic field that surrounds you is a product of instability. Without a healthy aura, personal space is compromised. This allows external forces to have a greater influence.
The menu of life offers many options. Too many choices can affect the ability to choose what feels right in each moment. Autonomous behavior is the reward of developing greater self-awareness. Stepping back to observe one’s actions is not detaching from reality. Instead, it means having the ability to see and understand intrinsic desires.
Each person will experience a certain level of freedom. Others will find themselves somewhere on the continuum. Autonomy is not the same social construct for every culture. Some will be conditioned to the idea that personal goals and desires are the most important. Community-oriented responsibilities lead to autonomy according to others’ cultural beliefs. The key is to remain authentic in expression while aligned with core values and virtues. Personal growth and learning will lead to the autonomy you seek.
Fall in love with life to raise vibrational alignment with autonomy.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
