I have experienced a puzzling observation that extends well beyond myself. It seems to be one those mysteries in life that begs a question or a whisper (tee hee). How is it that some of the most highly conscious people lack a certain level of self-awareness? Apparently this has been a question since the ancient Greeks created the aphorism “Know thyself”. Self-awareness involves recognition of the various aspects of the self that include feelings, behaviors, and traits.
It’s not clear if we are born with self-awareness, despite some studies that indicate infants carry some level of self-awareness. Infants possess behavior that indicates a knowing of being alone. They also seem to know when they are touching themselves vs. being touched by others. Throughout childhood and adolescence, the self-concept becomes more abstract and complex and is organized into a variety of different cognitive aspects of the self, known as self-schemas.
Self-awareness is central to the self-concept emergence. Self-awareness comes part of a collection of different perspectives related to the self. Consciousness doesn’t guarantee higher levels of self-awareness, and in fact might detract in some way. Let’s get a whisper on consciousness as it relates to self-awareness.
Everyone will experience moments of awareness that can lead to incremental growth within a movement toward alignment with core vibrations. Reaching the highest level of self-awareness requires walking the path through the darkest of nights. Highly conscious people are often the most sensitive individuals dedicated to nurturing the needs of others, to the point of losing touch with certain aspects of self-realization.
One’s own perception of the self can be influenced by the situational identity that creates a permanence to discernment. In essence, the karmic pattern that includes any lack of self-awareness can create a blind spot. How an individual relates to the world contains some variations on public self-awareness versus private self-awareness. The ability to see the deepest truth regarding one’s self takes the highest level of discernment.
In a world filled with complex energies, the single element with the greatest influence can be the most elusive. The law of polarities will support any expansion of consciousness with an equal opportunity for compression. The magnetic domain that forms Universal Laws is what defines the Earth as the planet of testing. The courage to create a life with any purpose that leads to spiritual growth contains agreements to develop obstacles that are equal to the goal.
Increased self-awareness evolves from being a gracious receiver, a generous listener, and a brave seeker on a journey of truth. With greater self-awareness come increased levels of understanding. The alchemy of self-awareness and consciousness combined creates enlightenment. What was once invisible will become illuminated for those willing to open their hearts to themselves.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
“We search for happiness everywhere, but we are like Tolstoy’s fabled beggar who spent his life sitting on a pot of gold, under him the whole time. Your treasure–your perfection–is within you already. But to claim it, you must leave the buy commotion of the mind and abandon the desires of the ego and enter into the silence of the heart.”
