Okay, so this may not be the best way to describe 2020 (tee hee). The term “exhilaration” is of Latin origin (hilaris means “cheerful”) and denotes making cheerful or the temporary rise in cheerful state. According to German researchers, Exhilaration was introduced as an emotion construct aimed at integrating the various responses occurring at the levels of behavior, physiology, and emotional experience (Ruch, 1990a). A prior concept, the so-called “humor response,” was too narrowly defined and did not adequately represent the affective nature of the response to humor. Typically, the term “humor response” denoted the perception of a stimulus as funny, sometimes also including such overt responses as smiling and laughter.
Exhilaration means causing powerful feelings of happy excitement, thrilling, and elation. Synonyms for the word are charge, frisson, jollies, kicks, titillation, and wallop. Speaking for everyone in America, I would say we all need more jollies. Exhilaration is the high end of the excitement continuum, which means it could have greater effects on well-being than humor. To feel exhilarated might possibly be as good a medicine for the soul as laughter. Speaking of the soul, I would venture to say this feeling is connected to the movement of life-force energy or vital Chi. Let’s move some energy with a whisper from spirit to better understand exhilaration:
Exhilaration is the feeling felt by the soul when coming through the dark void to the Earth in order to incarnate. The exhilaration experience can still be used to enliven the senses, to bring cheer, or to bring forward different states of happiness. When the ancient texts referred to mirth, they were describing exhilaration. The holidays bring the opportunity for excitement of spirit to a more intentional state of being. Sometime humans are too serious and need an excuse or a reason to lighten up a little.
An agile mind means making adjustments to change thoughts, behaviors, and approaches better suited to each situation. Shifting between focused versus more abstract thinking styles can make for a more creative and agile mind. Rigid mindsets are released and alternative possibilities appear with interesting and exhilarating ways to live. Leaving the comfort zone behind is similar to the soul leaving the arms of divinity to begin a new journey. To break free of the tendency to play it safe replicates the experience to lift the internal vibrations. The result can be a better knowing of divine love, which is as equally important to life on Earth as the transient emotion of love.
It’s important to leave time for unstructured thought and allow for more creative strategies to life’s problems. Try something new and step outside your comfort zone, then notice the reactions and internal feelings, Sometime exhilaration can be perceived as fear, so careful discernment is part of the purpose for incarnating. Reframing thoughts can be essential to lifting the vibrations to a better vantage point to gain the elevated perspective. The optimistic spirit is more the goal that can be achieved through exhilaration resulting from gaining a balanced perspective on light.
Rather than the simplest exercise of trying to think only positive thoughts, try living on the edge of grey to experience the power of exhilaration.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
