My view is there are two types of depression. One is an emotional response to life. Grief, loss, trauma, and sadness can easily create such a response. The second is an energetic depression with no real sadness attached. This form of depression often affects those with sensitive energy systems. Depressed energy can be a chemical or hormonal imbalance, conditional or environmental response, or a compression of energy in one location of the physical body.
A good friend of mine recently moved across the globe. The decision to move away from his family and community seemed rather sudden, but also appeared to be crystal clear. This friend had developed depression a few years back, and almost every measure had failed in his attempt to return to a generally happy state of being. I noticed a shift in his energy immediately upon sharing the big news. There was a lift in his words, the way he walked, and the way he presented in general. Once he moved, the depression lifted. My mouth sprang open as these words dropped out, “Following your dreams heals depression.” (tee hee)
I was sent into the realm of deep contemplative curiosity. Could it be as simple as that? All these years of working with the depressed energy of clients was simply coaching them toward some aspect of their dreams? My friend, mind you, wasn’t asking me because he discovered the cure on his own. So many questions means it’s time for a whisper on healing depression:
Life will always hold a range of emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual experiences. Each one leading to a response on many levels. Yet the complexity of human energy systems allows for endless creative manifestations. Humans are living in a world where anything is possible to manifest, whether perceived as good or bad. If the conditions do not support expression from the highest levels of self, then one must change their conditions.
Humans are having a multidimensional experience in a magnetic domain. Like will attract like as magnetic partners in the process of evolution. The physical, emotional, spiritual, and energetic bodies require self-regulation to attract the matching environments, circumstances, conditions, and relationships that support manifestation of potential. Humans require nourishment to thrive, survive, and feel truly alive. Each person should routinely take an inventory of life to determine what major areas might be lacking some form of nourishment. The next step would be to take actions backed by intent with a clear and conscious goal in mind.
Depression is the body, mind, or spirit communicating that something isn’t right. The message could be as simple as the need for body movement or exercise. A need for better food or sleep could be somewhere in the language. Engaging with passion and purpose might be the divine prescription trying to get through the matrix. When you can lift the vibrations within, you can lift emotional or energetic debris that has been supporting depression. Forgiveness of yourself and others frees you from the burdens of the past. Exercise and movement shifts the energy within to a higher vibration.
Identification of needs opens the door to fulfillment. Following your dreams fills the system with the energy of love, which heals anything, including depression.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
