Like most of you, I have faced tremendous challenges this year. Beckie and I have lived through the pandemic, moving to a different city during Covid, faced health challenges, separation from beloved family and friends, career and business transformations, and the most traumatic loss imaginable. Wow, when I put it in writing, it seems like 2020 has been like taking a daily trip to the dentist (tee hee).
I have avoided the saying ‘it can’t get any worse’ for a reason. If you look up that phrase in the dictionary, the definition is ‘something you say just before it gets worse’. Jeez, no wonder I have avoided letting myself go there. Perhaps it’s a cruel trick played by the Universe, like an uncle who is hard of hearing. The Cosmos hears only the word “worse” and delivers your request to make things worse immediately! But as human goobers, it’s not easy to flip the script when things are going bad. We use this saying as a spiritual bypass with idioms like ‘everything happens for a reason’ and ‘every cloud has a silver lining’ because we want and need hope.
The point is, if we have reached a place where we feel the need to use these sayings to generate hope, it might indicate we are too late to the game. We have already arrived in a place where we don’t feel safe. Whatever is happening in life has led us to ruminating the problems, brooding, anger, depression, and the search for hope. My newest way to flip the script is to say It can’t get any better! Perhaps spirit can deliver more than an idiom that leads us to understanding:
Greater self-awareness and conscious living through mindfulness are part of the answer to these questions. If you understand that the earth is the realm of testing and you have a destiny that is yours to fulfill, then you can understand that the challenges are helping you realize your life purpose. Your soul was aware of the struggles and suffering that come with physical incarnation, yet chose the path you are on. Understanding WHY cannot be explained in a book or from a guru.
The answer is within. So your duty is to find that answer by searching the crevasses of your mind, body, and spirit. Humans are stubborn and carry a great deal of resistance related to fear. They avoid looking at the keys to life with the distraction that comes with always looking for the shiny object. To face the darkness is to overcome fear through understanding. You can reach understanding without jumping out of a perfectly good airplane to overcome your fear of heights.
Fantastic journeys can be experienced in the comfort of your own home. The goal is to reach a vibrational state that is equal to or greater than that which you seek to manifest. Why is it that bad people are often so successful? Part of the answer to that question is they lack empathy, so they don’t form unhealthy attachments. A lack of morality means there is nothing to defend.
Intentional living means conscious awareness of your state of being prior to slipping into a deep hole of despair. It’s not just think positive thoughts and everything turns magically positive. Positivity is a state of being that is constant, vibrant, and vital for wellness. Fill your spirit with the energy of love and feel the safety in the arms of divinity to help live out your destiny.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
