While mowing the front yard, I miscalculated and slammed the mower into the gas light pole. It’s a remnant of days gone by, long since abandoned. When I hit the pole with a bang, time stood still. I was transported back to a moment in my childhood. Not more than 5 years old, I slammed my tricycle into the neighbors’ swing set with force. Out of the top pole came an angry red wasp. It flew at me so quickly there was not much time to react. Landing near my heart, the sting was quick and painful. Now I’m standing in my front yard frozen in that moment several decades later.
I could say hitting the pole jarred memories because the sting was so traumatic. After the whisper on Overused Words, it didn’t feel right to write it off as trauma. (tee hee) Instead, my awareness went to the importance. It must have been impactful for the memory to have such strength. I learned lessons on the hidden dangers in the world and the cost of disturbing nature. It seems there was more depth to the overused story of lessons from trauma.
Standing in the yard frozen in the moment, it occurred to me that there was significance. The extent to which somethings has meaning defines the word. An impactful experience surfaced from deep within. Perhaps there was a loss of innocence in that moment. Unlike a birthday or anniversary, the day was not marked on the calendar, but it did leave a mark on my soul. It’s hard to explain using logic and reasoning, which gives it value and intrigue. A wasp attack created a moment of uncertainty that lives in the mystery of significance. The same could be said of a whisper on the subject:
One ingredient will not stand on its own as significant. There must be two elements that create a combined effect to mark such a moment. The value is measured by the soul, which applies importance to the moment. Truth is not a factor with the level of significance. In other words, the value is subjective to how the information is processed.
For example, did you believe you had done something wrong by striking the play set? There was certainly a consequence that could have seemed like a punishment. The importance was arranged by your thoughts and beliefs formed in the experience. A careless action threatened the nest of an aggressive creature. Unintentional actions raised the awareness by opening a fear gate. The significance is more in the awareness than a mark left by trauma.
Unintentional consequences bring a greater awareness, so they become benchmarks for the soul. You experienced an introduction into the realities of a world of hidden dangers. These occasions that mark the soul are part a system of growth and development. Value is realized in the effect of that which has significance.
Your soul is the center of achievement for life on Earth and beyond. It is the foundation of your relationship with the essence of your existence. Your level of commitment, determination, discipline, and desire comes from the spirit within. There are people and circumstances that will pull you into experiences. Whether viewed as darkness or the light, a mark is left by that which moves you toward love.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
