When I was transitioning from contractor to angel dude, I started writing. The mean roommate in my brain who never pays rent said, “Who do you think you are?” (tee hee) I shared my insecurities with a friend, telling him I never finished high school and wasn’t qualified to write anything. He looked at me and said, “Russell, my boy, to be a writer you simply need to write.” So write I did and since that time have self-published 1.2 million words. This year, I am claiming to be a writer! One theme appears every time I write: the first person transformed by my writing is me. Taking thoughts and putting them on paper allows me to investigate the truth of my words. Writing takes me deeper than mere thoughts to land squarely inside my beliefs.
One single word can create understanding and peace while another can start a war. Either way, I am transformed. Whatever happens next doesn’t really matter, for I have changed inside, and my mission has changed as well. I would encourage everyone to write, whether in a private journal or an entire book that has been waiting to get out. Now, I will write until my thoughts turn into whispers from an angel:
Writing is your projection into the Universe. In order to understand your emotions, intentions, deeds, and thoughts, writing will bring clarity. With clarity comes the chance to reveal the truth of your life, or to hide behind the walls of your story. The transformation begins either way, as your writing is the vehicle that takes you to a place you couldn’t go by other means. Imagination, curiosity, and the search for truth are held in your hands and delivered to the heart when the words become written.
The gift of nature is a language that communicates love. All stories are love stories, and writing transforms the moment into the energy of love. Love is found in the hateful rhetoric spewed onto paper that allows a moment of reflection. Transformation is turning away from the darkness of hatred, knowing the burden of truth is yours alone to carry.
The art of writing sparks the imagination to reveal a moment of intimacy. The deep sharing of thoughts and beliefs takes immense courage. To write is to overcome fear. Overcoming fear is empowering. The power of the written word is stronger than any weapon, for it cannot be erased from the human mind. One moment of inspired thought gives way to the spirit that has just been changed forever. The human mind can be rewired to a new way of thinking through affirming thoughts of truth on paper.
Unify the heart with the mind by writing your story, creating your characters, conceiving their roles, and discovering something that was previously hidden. Writing searches the soul, asking questions, finding answers, and forming a version of truth. The evolution of humankind is connected to the written word handed down over the ages. Transform yourself by claiming your voice, stepping into your power, and speaking the language of love in the form of writing.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
