The whispers from spirit include this word frequently, and what a delicious word to use in our spiritual vernacular vocabulary. I love words that have so many meanings that sometimes people don’t get what I’m trying to say! (tee hee) The classic definition of sovereignty includes supreme power, especially over a political unit, or a country’s independent authority and right of self-controI. I don’t know if politics will ever match the power of this word the way it’s used to describe the wave of personal awakening, transformation, and evolution of a species!
When it comes to personal development and spiritual growth, we the seekers are trying to crack the code to finding our way back to some semblance of personal sovereignty. In a world full of power struggles, sovereignty is our key to disengagement with oppression and victimhood. When we step into our personal sovereignty, we step into our power, where true freedom and independence are realized.
It’s easy to seek meaning in our external world by looking outside for fulfillment. Social programming and the devolving tribal template have led to greater family dysfunction. The result is becoming conditioned to give away our power, followed by searching everywhere to get it back. The constant focus on the outer world is the biggest distraction to looking inward, the last place many of us want to look. Let’s look inward and get a whisper on sovereignty:
Everyone sees the world through the lens of their experiences, conditions, beliefs, thoughts, and emotions. The distortions formed by those elements determine the balance between reality and imagination. Both are essential components to present everything of value to the human experience. The trees, the grass, the leaves, the sky, and the setting sun are real to the senses. The sunset, the colors, the energy, the beauty, and the exact moment where light plunges into darkness stimulate the senses to create a rich, meaningful experience that feeds the imagination. Some will feel the satisfaction of the experience, while others will snap a photo and walk away.
A place of true power is not chaotic, nervous, anxious, or even uncertain. This is a place of calm, centered authenticity where meaningful things in life are quite clear. Birth and death deliver the greatest moments of sovereignty. There is nothing uncertain in those experiences. Sovereignty is the power to allow honest expressions of the feelings and emotions evoked from any deep and meaningful moment in life. Measuring your life by the amount of hope that something greater than the current reality would be more fulfilling is an energy leak around personal sovereignty. Failure to recognize there is never separation from divine love and human interconnectedness, regardless of the circumstances, is the karmic blind spot that separates you from recognizing you.
With self-awareness around any lack of recognition, you can reconnect with your purpose, leverage change with any unhealthy patterns, reach higher levels of love, and march forward in a return to personal sovereignty. In that movement you will discover the freedom, clarity, and independence to find meaning in the small moments that define your love for this life.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
