Angel Whispers – Complex

In psychoanalysis, complex is a group of emotions that are completely or partially repressed. Repression causes psychic conflict, leading to abnormal mental states or behavior. In mathematics, complex denotes numbers or quantities containing both real and imaginary parts. But I wanted to write about joy! (tee hee). We humans have varied emotions, patterns, and elements that are hard to understand. Ask someone about their joy and be prepared for a pause. Like math, parts of life are real, while others are imaginary.

Joy is an under-studied subject among psychologists and energy workers like myself. It’s surprising, given that it is such a core aspect of human development. Everyone has experienced the primal sounds of joy in a sudden response to hearing good news. There is a deep meaning to life that motivates and directs us to seek joy. Even with the complex factor, we can’t help but respond to things that matter the most.

The domain of the self is where values, virtues, purpose, and emotions overlap, which is why it is complex. Emotions like sorrow and anger are deeply connected to our joy. Why? Because feeling uncomfortable informs us of our purpose and meaning in life. Deepak Chopra lists in his daily routine an exercise where he places on a scale of 10 his current levels of joy. If the answer is less than a 10, he inquires within to find what is preventing his joy. Let’s explore our complex nature with a whisper on joy from the energy of the loving light:

Joy is experienced through connection. Humans are fractals of consciousness removed from a state of oneness. Among the various elements that compose the human spirit, there is remembrance. A type of nostalgia carries a yearning for the feeling of oneness found in a single spark of light. At the deepest core of the complex human system, joy is motivation to connect with a larger collective.

One’s worldview will impact individual levels of joy. Structural racism and devaluing of life solicit a response to the violation of all things held sacred. Taking an inventory of personal perspective can illuminate deficiencies in basic needs. Sorrow is a response to the devaluation of human life. In an attempt to understand why this occurs, humans search for a new perspective. Making sense of the world today is what gives value to life.

True joy is tied to the complexity of how to endure the experiences of joy and sorrow. This profoundly unique ability to understand the context in a human experience is found only in the domain of the human species. Layers of energy produce vibrations that ebb and flow. It is with intention that one must inquire to bring joy to the surface of energy patterns created by life experiences.

Joy is a state of being that shares energetic space with happiness, satisfaction, and contentment. To a lesser extent, that space also holds grief, sadness, and shame. An intense, momentary, positive emotion calls forth the primal response recognized as joy. Taking a deliberate approach to learning what brings joy is connecting to your core self. Such connection is woven into the tree of life that stems from a sense of meaning and deep contentment. Joy is the fruit of life.

Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell

“Without pain, how could we know joy?’ This is an old argument in the field of thinking about suffering and its stupidity and lack of sophistication could be plumbed for centuries but suffice it to say that the existence of broccoli does not, in any way, affect the taste of chocolate.”
