What is background awareness? I’m not sure because it’s a channeled message (tee hee). I used the term during a session, and in my mind heard my questioning self saying I hope they know what you’re talking about. The context in which I used the term revolved around how self-awareness suffers the effects of external stimulation.
Self-awareness shapes who we are through observing and identifying behavior. Perspective seems bidirectional since I can see multiple sides functioning in unison. Stepping back to observe as a third person uses my recall and imagination to create different focal points. Gestalt theory says that when the self is confined to a smaller area in the cognitive field, people can experience spontaneous, objective self-awareness.
Viewing my past always seems third-person, like someone I know but do not recognize as my present self. As I consider the events of the past using my knowledge of today, I construct a coherent concept of myself. It’s possible that background energy brings discrepancies between the self to manipulate any relevant comparison. If I assess something I did wrong, and the background noise supports low self-esteem, then I’m left with a distorted view of myself. I’m lost trying to assess the truth of who I am. Most animals don’t recognize themselves in the mirror. Why couldn’t we humans be so lucky! Let’s see what we can find in the whispers to help understand background awareness.
To understand background awareness, you might look at the lack thereof. As the world awakens each morning and you move from the darkness to the light, the daily awakening begins. The wind activates the trees in the forest. People begin to move about in their homes and vehicles. The mind awakens to the thoughts and beliefs stimulated by a busy modern world.
Self-awareness can feel like a gift or a curse while navigating life’s successes and failures. Coordinated interaction between self and varying perspectives is essential for human adaptation. The classic structure of cognition, emotions, and behavioral inclinations provides the general view of self. Awareness offers recognition of opposing energies that drive self-conception, roles, and assignment of place or position in the world. Background awareness can lead one away from misperception and abstract reasoning. An outer-world influence can bring instability and loss of reality. The inner-world influence is where stable foundations form, actions are created, and true persona is established.
Clarity is a process of revealing one’s explicit feelings and mental states. Interactions with other people evoke implicit emotional reactions. Self-reflection helps to bring previously unrecognized feelings into conscious awareness. Refined self-awareness gives greater illumination to self-reflection. As self-awareness expands throughout adulthood, the capacity for self-reflection deepens. Using practices like meditation and prayer deregulates the nervous system to bring down the background noise to a level where whispers from the heart are heard and felt. Background awareness means using your senses to determine external influences that undermine self-love and the inherent stillness at the core of your being.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
