Have you ever done the opposite of what every fiber of your being says you should be doing? That happened to me this week on more than one occasion. I was left mystified by my own actions! (tee hee) The definition of counterintuitive is something that goes against what you believe would be logical, or something that goes against common sense. Maybe that was the problem, logic and common sense did not enter the equation. It was all raw emotion steering the ship.
An inner voice was screaming at me to make a decision, and I listened to that voice. If the whispers of my heart were yelling so loud that I chose to make an irrational, illogical decision, isn’t that more intuitive than counterintuitive? Some sort of mysterious energy can move the mind well beyond anything common, and the reason for the season usually shows up well beyond the moment.
Note to self: Remember when I turned down a lucrative offer which led to the client offering me more than what I was asking? Why was I turning down an offer that would change my life for the positive in the first place! I wasn’t intentionally trying to create more claim value, but instead was simply experiencing a blind spot with my karmic destiny. Now that was counterintuitive! Let’s get a whisper to help our vision of self get clearer with a whisper on counterintuitive:
Counterintuitive measures are often energies streaming from the subconscious as instinct. Let’s say you are approaching an intersection when the light is green. Suddenly you apply the brakes and stop without any explanation that would be considered logical. A speeding car races through the intersection, and there would have been a major collision if you had failed to stop. You can easily understand, accept, and be grateful for the decision to stop that seemed counterintuitive. This is an example of an instinct overriding common sense. Counterintuitive doesn’t mean wrong; it means discernment coming from a deep place beyond surface understanding.
The heart and mind work independently, but are forced to collaborate. Intuition is a heart energy that relies on emotional intelligence to create wisdom. Instinct is a heart energy connected to the ego and survival. Both can influence the voice of the heart during an internal monologue where actions eliminate reason in favor of intuition. Counterintuitive measures are evoked during moments where intuition defies logic. The heart rarely speaks louder than the mind, so when it does there is a feeling of mystery surrounding a sudden change with guidance.
The survival instinct is the strongest reactive energy in the human experience. Primal by nature, impulsive by spirit, the human heart has a compass that provides direction at times when decisions are made. The gift of free will allows the freedom of the spirit to form a vision that can be hidden from the mind. Surrender to the mystery of a conduit running from the heart through the mind to connect with the divine, by allowing counterintuitive measures to bring forward new information. Without all the information needed to make a decision, there can be no true logic or common sense. From the inner chamber of the heart, radiant love illuminates the path less traveled by the mind.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
“At the heart of science is an essential balance between two seemingly contradictory attitudes–an openness to new ideas, no matter how bizarre or counterintuitive they may be, and the most ruthless skeptical scrutiny of all ideas, old and new. This is how deep truths are winnowed from deep nonsense.”
