The energy of this year involves the theme of freedom. Anytime we think about freedom, it’s natural to make up stories about all your false freedoms (tee hee). Freedom is defined as the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action. In order to realize true freedom, we need clear goals and priorities with focused action steps. We feel free through the depth of an experience made possible through discipline.
It’s easy to mistake freedom with independence or self-reliance. I believe freedom is more about balance and the ability to avoid swinging between extremes in a way that leads to co-dependency. The pandemic has served to bring forced isolation, raising the bar for obtaining freedom while upping the ante on the need for discipline. One irony that strikes me is that the search for freedom often leads to isolation without a pandemic, through false notions and the desire for extreme independence. These are strange times indeed!
How do we experience true freedom in 2021? I can only begin to guess, which is a sign that it’s time to seek answers through listening for the whisper of spirit:
Releasing limitations allows for the most creative expression of life. With unbounded energy, the true depth of an experience can be realized. The search for freedom can lead directly into the field of illusion and fantasy, as the mind is proficient at denying reality. Freedom is a heart energy which involves the ego, masculine and feminine energy, feeling, and love. As the heart influences move toward freedom through a feeling, the mind can recoil in fear of something unknown.
Fears create energetic instability, bringing attachments, limiting beliefs, lack of clarity, and resistance to leaving the perceived comfort zone. Discipline brings confidence, clarity, flexibility, and trust through the establishment of goals from a vision which considers all sides. Better decisions are a product of the grounding that comes from discipline. More than following rules, discipline offers the potential to build vibrations that match the desired manifestation.
The more free a person feels, the more creatively they can express. Every tendency toward being free brings the energy of opposition. Resentment, anger, and bitterness can be directed at the conditions, people, and things that represent restrictions on personal freedom. Self-control is the product of discipline, which brings greater focus to personal responsibility.
Taking command of life leaves behind making demands like a child. It’s your message to the Universe that you accept responsibility and are devoted to a purposeful life. With clear focus, the discipline to carry out the action steps toward your goals ushers in a vitality connected to inspiration. Freedom comes in small bites, and it’s important to enjoy those golden nuggets found in the experiences you drew forth with discipline.
Discipline is creating a healthy boundary that brings stability, determination, and perseverance to experiencing a magical life of freedom.
Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
“Don’t expect to be motivated every day to get out there and make things happen. You won’t be. Don’t count on motivation. Count on discipline.”
